Playbox_Jak-TV_logoJak-TV, a leading television channel located in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, has invested in a Channel-in-a-Box broadcast playout solution from PlayBox Techology. The system was provided by Horizon Global Media, the PlayBox Technology reseller for Indonesia.
“Jak-TV were looking to replace existing third-party equipment with a new system,” comments Desmon Goh, Country Manager, PlayBox Technology, Asia Pacific. “The channel’s management were impressed by the greatly improved operational efficiency that could be achieved using an integrated Channel-in-a-Box approach from PlayBox Technology. The solution chosen centred on our AirBox with an integral ListBox to simplify the process of pre-transmission scheduling. The new system comprises main and backup Channel-in-a-Box units to provide full one-plus-one redundancy. After scheduling for playout, programmes and interstitial clips such as promos and commercials are automatically assembled for playout. The system is operated from Jak-TV’s master control room. We provided full operational and first-line-maintenance training on-site. Additional support is just a phone call away.”
Designed for 24/7 unattended operation, the PlayBox Technology AirBox forms the core of a turnkey Channel-in-a-Box playout solution for TV channel broadcasting. It integrates all the elements needed to keep a channel on-air by combining automation, playout and interactive graphics within one box. It can provide SDI or IP streaming connectivity for applications including broadcast and cable TV as well as other applications.
AirBox provides automated content playout for satellite channels, cable head-ends, over-the-air broadcasters and corporate TV users. It is designed to be extremely robust, in order to meet the highest reliability demands of on-air playout. Due to its unique modular architecture, it is also suitable for webcasters, hotel pay-television channels, corporate presentations, video-wall sourcing and other programme distribution systems.
ListBox is an offline schedule editor providing editing facilities such as text searching, clip copy/paste, and schedule printing. It enables broadcast channel staff to create and edit schedules hours, days or weeks in advance. ListBox runs on practically any PC platform.
SafeBox replicates remote content to local playout server folders for safe transmission. It can gather content from a number of sources automatically, when new content is available at the remote locations. SafeBox can be operated in playlist-dependent or stand-alone mode. In playlist-dependent mode, all file operations are slaved to schedule contents. New daily schedules are transferred along with their associated content and file paths in the playlists are automatically updated according to the new local storage. Expired daily schedule content is automatically deleted or moved to a predefined purge folder for manual deletion or archiving. Deletion can be performed automatically or by manual user approval of deletion lists.
